Can you feel that, Texas? Great weather, flowers blooming, and a little spring in your step must mean that it’s spring fever!

If you’re looking for things to do, sights to see, or just an excuse to get out of the house, your favorite dentist in Bedford has you covered. Here are some fun local ideas to get you up and out this spring:

Things To Do Around Bedford, Texas

Whether you’re looking for some outdoor adventure, family fun, or opportunities to improve your community, there are many fun and exciting things you can do around Bedford.

Bedford Public Library

The library has become more than a place to just borrow books; it’s a social hub for community involvement, learning, and family fun!

Libraries have become important “third places”, locations that are neither home nor work. They are centers for the arts, promote social outreach, and champions of youth development. Here are a few things you can do at our Bedford library, in addition to borrowing books (and audiobooks!):

    • Volunteer. Are your children looking for community service opportunities for school? The Bedford Public Library is looking for teens (12-18 years) to help over the summer. Applications are open until May 15th.
    • Gaming. Where better for teens to hang out than at the library? The Bedford library has a dedicated Teen Room and Saturday afternoon it is game time! Board games are available, or they can bring their own. There is even a PS4 and age-appropriate games provided.
    • Adult coloring. Adult coloring books are all the rage right now. We seem to have only recently remembered why coloring was fun for kids — it’s very therapeutic and a great outlet for emotional expression. The Bedford Public Library usually has several events every week for adults to socialize and enjoy refreshments in a relaxing atmosphere while they treat themselves to some color therapy.

Explore the Weird, Strange, and Bizarre at Ripley’s Believe It or Not

Ripley’s in Grand Prairie should be on the bucket list of everyone in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Explore a dozen themed galleries in the Odditorium; grab a selfie with your favorite celebrity in the Palace of Wax; or escape the enchanted Mirror Maze. That’s just scratching the surface!

You can even see if you have the skills to be a super spy or international jewel thief in the Laserace, or strap on your seat belt as you Jumanji your way through a 7D Moving Theater experience.

    Go On a Scavenger Hunt

As a parent, I understand how hard it is to capture the interest of your kids when you have to compete with electronic devices. Why not take the family outside on a wild goose chase?

Scavenger hunts have been reinvented using the technology of smartphones. Users try to use clues to find the right location and then snap a picture to see if they’re in the right spot. The device’s GPS plays a critical role.

You can download apps to create your own scavenger hunt, or participate in professionally-planned scavenger hunts to see the sights and learn some local Bedford history!

    Fort Worth Foto Fest

    Beford photography class

  • I try to keep my eye out for unusual opportunities, and this one grabbed my attention.

Get flying with international fashion photographer Dixie Dixon. Next May, Dixie is offering a presentation with her production team to teach vital photography skills such as lighting, set design, and…flying? Yes, they are hosting this class at iFly in Hurst, an indoor skydiving facility.

Participants will get to shoot skilled flying artists, as well as get 2 sessions to give it a go yourself! Don’t miss your chance to go to flight school!

Splash Around at the Bedford Splash Family Aquatic Center

We all know Texas can get hot. When we need to beat the heat, our favorite place to cool off is Bedford Splash.

While it’s not the biggest and baddest waterpark, it is ours. With fair prices, doggie days, and even letting you bring in your own cooler, this waterpark is the best for the money. On Fridays, keep those wristbands on because you can come back for a Flick N’ Float. Bring your pool noodles and floaty chairs to lounge in the pool with your family while you watch a family movie on an enormous, 21 foot movie screen. This summer, you’ll be able to see some great shows such as Moana, Finding Dory, and the Lego Batman Movie.
