Trinity Trojans: False Start?

Posted .

Football team at scrimmage

The Trinity Trojans have a strong tradition of winning, even amidst the toughest high school football competition in the nation. Unfortunately, they go into their next game with a losing record, one of the only times they have had one in more than a dozen years.

After a 31-14 loss to Colleyville Heritage, the Trojans are looking to prove that was a simple fluke. The last time they were in this position, they followed up with an 11-game winning streak, but then lost the regional title shot to DeSoto.

Despite the circumstances, Trinity is still ranked at number 18 in 6A ball, even beating out Naaman Forest (number 20), which has started the season with a 3-0 record. If Trinity doesn’t want to wash out before the season has gotten very far, though, they’ll need to find their ground game.

Star running back Courage Keihn, who ran for 15 touchdowns and 1500 yards last season, has been out due to injuries. While Katerian Lewis has stepped up, the team is gaining significantly fewer rushing yards than they need to be the effective force they are capable of becoming.

Will Euless Trinity Make It in 2017?

After 6A took their bye last week, Trinity will start district play against Lewisville (September 29), who is 1-2 this season. If they want to make it to the final four for the district playoffs, Trinity needs to overtake Lewisville this week. It has been 20 years since Euless Trinity has failed to make the playoffs.

It should be a straightforward victory for the Trojans, but failure to secure a win here will likely spell doom for the rest of the season. Assuming they win, a tough schedule means that the real test comes in two weeks, when the Trojans square off with Southlake Carroll. That’ll be a match up you don’t want to miss!

The last time these rivals faced each other, the Trojans fell 42-28 to Carroll, which has beaten them four times in the six matchups they have had in their shared history.

And don’t forget to stay up-to-date with 6A team rankings, so you’re always in the know.

Don’t Forget About Your Player’s Teeth

For obvious reasons, athletes are 60 times more likely to damage their teeth or jaws when they don’t wear a mouthguard. We want to protect their teeth, as I’m sure you do. That’s why we recommend custom mouthguards.

We not only provide mouthguards that truly fit your teeth, but we can also customize them with team colors, logos, names, or jersey numbers! Injuries to teeth are physically and financially painful. With a rough sport like football, it pays to invest in the simple protection of a custom mouthguard.

So give us a call today and see how we can help protect your star’s smile! An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!
