We are in the business of beautiful smiles. Our smiles are an important part of who we are. When we feel confident about our smiles, we appear more genuine and open in social situations. And lately, I’ve been reading about all the health benefits our smiles provide.

I also found a fun little video on the evolution of smile research…it goes back much farther than I imagined:
Recent research shows that the simple act of smiling can actually make you feel happier, whether it’s a genuine smile or not. Using your facial muscles to smile triggers the release of dopamine, one of the pleasure chemicals in the brain.
Smiling also lowers cortisol, a stress hormone, which keeps you feeling cool, calm, and collected even as outside stressors increase. When your cortisol levels are lower, you sleep better, you tend to eat healthier, and you can take on life’s sticky situations with ease.
Am I saying that smiling is the cure-all for the crazy amounts of stress and anxiety in your life? Certainly not. But, offering the world a smile makes you seem more confident, more capable, and more friendly. It’s amazing how our smiles affect every part of our lives.
